For almost 50 years, the CH-47 Chinook has been one of the most capable helicopters in the world, easily recognizable with its tandem rotor structure and its spacious fuselage. Over 1,100 units have so far been produced for use in 20 countries around the world. The CH-47 is one of the most important transport helicopters of the U.S. Army. B Company of the 5th Battalion, 158th "Big Windy" Aviation Regiment operates the Chinook and is based at Katterbach, near the town of Ansbach, Bavaria.
