In 1978, American Airlines, the subsidiary of American Inter Island with headquarters on St. Croix, one of the three main islands of the Virgin Islands, which belong to the USA. Five Convair 440s connected the island St. Croix with the island St. Thomas. It is perfectly suited for take-offs and landings on the short runway.
